How to wear a shirtdress all year round!

Uncategorized Apr 23, 2021

Buy Less. Live more.

First of all let me chat about my brand new style passion - giving a big a nod to the 1920's drop waist dress.

Wearing my shirt dresses this way in Spring/Summer allows me to bring the length right up without having to have it altered (I always prefer more lazy and inexpensive options - every single time!) and gives me plenty of around the tummy freedom (AGAIN a huge bonus for comfort right now).

And guess what?!

Come the cooler weather -  I do the same drop waist under a knit and just add boots. I can also add opaque stockings and finish off over the top with a coat.

And then again for mid weather - pop it over a knee length skirt, open a couple of buttons and belt it lightly.

Check out S.J. below showing us her take on this look for all year round.

You can follow S.J. on instagram HERE

And look at Liz Miles (from my Boss program) showing us how an Eyes colour type rocks the shirtdress in the cooler weather.

Are you warming up to wearing boots with skirts now?

Uncategorized Apr 23, 2021

Buy Less. Live more.

This week we are talking in reverse to last week.

Long skirts (to the ankle) with ankle boots rather than long boots with to the knee length skirts.

Frame your light long ankle length skirt with a dark ankle boot.

And a dark long skirt will go well with either a coloured ankle boot/street sneaker.

Or a bright white ankle boot/street sneaker.

Are you slowly getting your head around this "contrasting" your hem line bizzo?

It really makes a difference doesn't it?

Watch my short video below to see it in action.

Long Boots! Which colour will be most useful to you?

Have you noticed a theme of depths you tend to collect in your wardrobe?

In Winter, do you tend to only wear light skirts?

Or perhaps you only wear dark skirts. Maybe you only ever wear coloured skirts.

It's through knowing how you roll personally that you can make the best choice when it comes to buying long boots.

(Above) Light skirts prefer a pair of dark boots. I'm wearing dark taupe here.

(Above) And Dark skirts prefer light boots (and now I am wearing light taupe).

Where as a coloured skirt will prefer a dark long boot. I'm wearing dark taupe again.

But if you are looking for a great all rounder. A medium warm tan will work everytime.

Watch my video below so you can see my bottom half disappear before your very eyes as I show you the difference as to why contrasting your skirts to your boots works best.

Grey Hair and Beanies! The colours I choose

Uncategorized Apr 23, 2021

Stress Less. Live more.

Brrrrrrrrr..... It's so cold here is Adelaide South Australia at the moment and we without heating in our house (yet!) a beanie has become a must.

I like to wear my beanies with my hair exposed at the front fringe and a little bit at the side.

The colours that I always suggest to collect in a beanie are a go away green (any natural green) and/or light grey. These two colours will never mess with your outfit as they are barely there.

Now that I have chosen to let my hair go naturally grey all over (salt and pepper) I find that light grey and/or darker natural green works best.

Below is a picture of me wearing my natural green (bright sage) with my unnatural blonde (coloured) hair. Colour on colour so it looked and felt great.

And then here is my bright sage green again with my now (4 years later) salt and pepper hair.

And now with a light grey beanie with my salt and pepper hair.

I am now on the hunt for a softer grey green (light sage) beanie for

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest". –  Benjamin Franklin

Life's expensive.

All of the little things that we have to buy without even taking into account all of things that we would like to buy...

This really does leave a dent in our "what's left to live on".

Sometimes knowing what it is you need exactly, helps you to search for those items with confidence and at a better price .

Half the battle is putting your trust in another person to tell you what's right for you.

But seriously.

What if you really knew you, what suits you and what you should be focusing on.

Let's begin today with reading glasses.

How to wear a paper bag waist

Uncategorized Apr 23, 2021

Stress Less. Live more.

What is a paper bag waist?

A Paper bag waist is a scrunchy waist that reminds one of a paper bag surrounding a bottle or a bread stick after your hand has held it tightly on its trip home. They scrunch at the waist and are usually tied with soft fabric or more traditionally -  rope.

It's a classic style that never dates and can be kept forever but does come around as "a trend" piece every 3 years.

The under 30's amongst us may like to wear theirs with a crop top or a bodysuit.

As a 47 year old, I love wearing mine with a long sleeve shirt, sloppy Joe, classic poncho or a loose tee or tank top tucked in.

The great thing about a paper bag waist is that you can buy one at 23 years of age and still wear the same item - only differently for the rest of your life. They are a true classic.

Jeans and Jackets! How to wear them together

Uncategorized Apr 23, 2021

Buy Less. Live more.

Even though jeans may seem like the easiest thing on the planet to just grab and throw on (cos they go with everything right), they really aren't.

There is a balance that will mean that a little more thought on your behalf really should go into in.

The key is - Masculine denim and something feminine.

This is done so well with both dainty and statement necklaces, feminine coloured tops, heels and thin belts (especially printed ones).

Jeans LOVE!!!! prints. Absolutely adore them.

They love a print top. A print jacket. A print belt. A print shoe/boot/heel and a print clutch/bag.

They love to become a print themselves through distressing (you can watch my how to HERE).

We have been chatting a lot lately (in my Boss program) about leather jackets and as it's such a huge investment. It's really important to get it right.

I would love for you all to own at least one (and of course this can be vegan) as they do add a real edge to any outfit.

My video at the end of this email will show you these outfits and why I chose a blonde leather jacket as the best colour for my wardrobe.

How to wear a blazer and which is the best length and colour to buy

Blazers are expensive!

But how great are op shops for finding something loved before. AMAZING.

It's going to be a while before we can venture out into those glorious places again.

How about we shop our own and other Family Members wardrobes for the moment (I have made a video below showing you how I make my Husband's blazer work for me).

When it comes to blazers - It's not only about looking for the right cut and length for you but the colour is soooooo important.

My collection begins with my best light neutral - this one is a longer length.

Then I have my (hair colour type) skin colour of pink. This is a much shorter length but purchased oversized to suit my relaxed vibe. I include how to make this shorter length work best in my video below.

(My best Hair colour type extra colour of) blue in a longer boyfriend style.

My Eye colour of "a natural go away green" in a longer length.

Find out what colours suit you through the colour of your eyes

Uncategorized Apr 21, 2021

Isn't it frustrating when you are standing there looking at a clothes rack trying to work out which item to grab to try on when someone leans in RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU and grabs exactly what you were looking at?

I know, right? How rude.

But I guess they had one thing going for them that you didn't have. They were committed, knew what to grab and this for them took only seconds to do.

How about you become more stealth like, too?

You can do this by knowing which kind of color suits you straight off without messing around wasting time on trying them all.

It's all in your eyes.

If your eyes are bright and clear, you suit brighter greens and if your eyes are more cloudy (I call it dirty), then you suit more go away greens like sage for instance.

I have dirty green eyes (of which I love) so you will see by the photos below just which kind of green I collect everything in.
