What To Look For In A Winter Coat
Try not to repeat a colour even when it comes to your socks!
Now I am about to bust a myth here so get ready for it and you may need to brace yourself a little.
BUT black really is not the best coat colour to buy and I apologise if this makes mush of your brain and turns your whole world upside down but I never promised that our journey together here would be easy - fun yes, but easy...nope.
When you are encasing yourself in a huge piece of heavy fabric and it happens to be black, you have (without giving it a moment's thought) turned yourself into one big rather burnt marshmallow (but with little legs sticking out the bottom).
Dressing with a Winter coat means that you must consider your coat as an extra frame, so in reality your coat needs to be in contrast to everything else you wear in Winter.
You can take stock of your wardrobe and work out the colours that you mainly wear over winter and which would be the number one best coat colour to highlight and frame those colours - you will be on a winner!

Do you mainly have dark jeans and dark knits? Then grab a lighter coat.
Are all of your bottoms white, off-white or light denim jeans? Grab a navy coat or a lovely wine-coloured one.
Breaking up your outfit into sections by the way of colour keeps you feeling light and happy during the cooler months.
Not repeating the colour of your coat again within your outfit helps to achieve this easily.
